It was indeed a day to remember, as Bruderhilfe Social Development Initiative, in partnership with the Muriel Gordon Foundation, implemented a humanitarian donation project at the Christlight School for the Deaf & Dumb, Egbeda, Lagos, on Friday, 24th June, 2022.
The project was in line with one of the objectives of Bruderhilfe to ensure an increased accessibility and provision of social-economic services for the less privileged and the social excluded members of the society, including people with disabilities whom the Christlight School caters to.
The organisation donated educational materials, food provisions, nutritional supplements, clothing, footwear and other basic necessities made possible with support from Muriel Gordon Foundation, for the upkeep of the school’s children and use of the school.
The children, despite their disabilities, expressed their appreciation by presenting impressive songs, choreography and drama performances, to entertain the visitors.
The Bruderhilfe team, led by the President / Executive director, Mrs. Mary Oluwabamigbe Bruder, also interacted with the children and made them feel loved, encouraged and accepted. Mrs. Bruder affirmed that improving the lives of people with disabilities was very dear to her heart, and informed the proprietors that Bruderhilfe would partner with the institution, and adopt the school as one of its beneficiaries for her education development projects.
The delight was obvious on the faces of the children, who are living with various degrees of hearing and speech impairment, and their zeal to reach their highest potentials regardless of their limitations, was increased by virtue of the visit.
The Bruderhilfe team were also inspired by the resilience and cheerful spirits of the children and staff of the school, and agreed that the children have been opened to opportunities to enable them utilise their gifts and abilities for the betterment of Society.
The Propietress of the school Mrs. Toyin Apei was full of prayers and words of appreciation to Bruderhilfe and Muriel Gordon foundation, for the donations, and looks forward to more support and partnership in the future.
